What is a fitting?

A fitting is a piece that may or may not be metallic used to join pipes and other cylindrical profiles such as hoses or other fittings. At MPC we have universal quick connect fittings for pneumatic tools. The connection and disconnection of the tube is fast for greater safety in terms of sealing. Ideal for non-permanent pneumatic joints for nylon, polyamide and polyurethane tubing.

Types of fittings

There are different types of fittings such as hydraulic fittings, pressed fittings, galvanized fittings, spring fittings, quick couplings ..... When choosing a fitting, different aspects must be taken into account such as the type of connection (straight, T-shaped, bent...), the type of environment (hazardous area, humidity, rain...), the nature of the fluid (compressed air, water, air, oil...) and the material (brass, stainless steel, plastic...).

The fittings are used in different sectors such as steel industry, plumbing, shipbuilding, shipbuilding, refineries, fire fighting systems... and you can find plumbing fittings, water hose fittings, gas fittings, compressed air fittings, among others.

• MIGNON SERIES: The MIGNON series is indicated where the space and dimensions of the connections are compromised by space, due to its reduced dimensions, providing maximum flow rates of 700Lts/min.
• EXPORT SERIES: The EXPORT series profile "A" is indicated for compressed air connections with a medium level of demand, providing maximum flow rates of 1,500Lts/min.
• EURE-P SERIES: The EURE-P series "I,A,S,USA" profile is indicated for compressed air connections with a high level of demand, providing maximum flow rates of 1,800Lts/min.
• GIANT SERIES: The GIANT series profile "G" is indicated for compressed air connections with a high level of demand, providing maximum flow rates of 3,600Lts/min.

Galvanized fittings have high mechanical strength, fire resistance and resistance to corrosion-abrasion due to the hot-dip process to which they are subjected. Galvanized fittings are highly recommended for use in potable water circuits.

Plumbing fittings

Type of threads for fittings

The ISO 228-1 cylindrical thread is a type of Whitworth thread. The Withworth thread form is based on a 55 degree angle thread with rounded ridges and roots. This type of thread is the most commonly used for the connection of threaded pipe.

BSP threads are threads with a "Gas" profile and can be of two types

• Cylindrical: male and female are mounted on the same cylindrical thread. The designation according to ISO 228-1 is G.
• Tapered: the tapered tap can be installed against a tapered or parallel female thread. The designation according to ISO 7-1 (EN 10226-1) is R for the external (male) thread and Rp and Rc for the internal (female) thread.
